The John Day River is one of the last long, undammed rivers in the continental U.S. and is great for multi-day river floats.
Each 4th of July weekend is the Bluegrass Festival in front of the old county courthouse: WHEELER COUNTY BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL, FOSSIL, OR - Wheeler County Bluegrass Festival
